How to Use Your M3 Earbuds

Everything you need to get your M3 earbuds set up, working, and translating. Allow about 10 minutes for the first setup.

Before anything else: the earbuds need the WasTrans app to translate. It is free on iOS and Android. The earbuds work as normal Bluetooth earbuds without it, but translation will not start until the app is installed and paired.

1. Download the WasTrans app

Search for WasTrans in your app store. This is the app Wooask provides for the M3.

iPhone and iPad Open the App Store, search "WasTrans", and tap Get. Requires iOS 11 or later.
Android Open Google Play, search "WasTrans", and tap Install.

The developer is listed as Shenzhen Maoren Technology Co., Ltd. If a search result shows a different developer, you have a lookalike app. Please check carefully before installing.

2. Charge the earbuds

  1. Place both earbuds in the charging case.
  2. The case has a USB Type-C port on the bottom. Use any USB Type-C cable, or a phone charger if you do not have one.
  3. A full charge takes about 1 hour. A short 10-minute charge is enough for a couple of hours of use.

You get up to 4 hours of earbud use, plus up to 2 more hours from the case. If the case itself is flat, put it on charge the same way.

3. Pair with your phone

  1. Open the WasTrans app and sign in or create an account if prompted.
  2. Take both earbuds out of the case. They should power on automatically.
  3. In the app, open the device or Connect screen and choose the M3 from the Bluetooth list.
  4. When the earbuds connect, you should hear a short tone and see them listed as connected in the app.

To pair the earbuds from your phone's Bluetooth settings instead, find "WOOASK M3" in the Bluetooth menu and tap it.

4. Choose a translation mode

Translation runs through the app. Pick the mode that suits the conversation in the WasTrans app, then speak.

Free Talk For longer two-way conversations. The app handles both sides. Best for meetings, meals and interviews.
Touch Tap the earbud to translate a short phrase. Good for directions, prices or ordering.
Speaker Plays translated speech through your phone speaker so a group can follow along.
Offline Translates 11 languages with no data connection. With Offline Package version only.

5. Set the two languages

  1. In the app, set the language you will speak and the language you want to hear.
  2. There are 74 languages with 70 accent variants, giving 144 language voices in total.
  3. Set both directions if the other person may reply in a different language.

6. If you bought the With Offline Package

Your version includes offline translation for 11 languages: Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Russian, German, French, Spanish, Arabic, Thai and Vietnamese.

  1. Download the language packs you need from inside the WasTrans app while you have a connection.
  2. Once downloaded the pack stays on your phone and that mode works with no signal, on a plane, or where coverage is poor.

What to expect, honestly

These are the manufacturer's stated figures. Real results vary:

  • Wooask states a response time of about 0.5 to 1 second. Actual timing depends on your network and the language pair.
  • Wooask states around 98% recognition accuracy. Accuracy drops with a strong accent, background noise or fast speech.
  • This is an open-ear design. It will not block outside sound, which is useful for awareness but not ideal in very noisy places.

Troubleshooting

No translation at all The app must be open and connected. Check it shows the earbuds as connected, then close and reopen it.
Earbuds not in the Bluetooth list Put both earbuds back in the case for 10 seconds, then take them out again to reset pairing.
Translation is slow or stalls Online translation needs a data connection. Move to better signal, or use Offline mode if you have that package.
Translation quality is poor Move somewhere quieter and speak at a normal pace. Check you set the correct language pair. Accent and background noise are the biggest causes.
Battery drains quickly Translation uses your phone microphone and data, which uses phone battery. Up to 4 hours of earbud use is expected, plus 2 from the case.
App asks for permissions Allow microphone access. Without it the app cannot hear you. Bluetooth permission is also needed to reach the earbuds.
